But what I find interesting about this very personal issue (yes, he's made it a very public issue) is the tenor of the numerous media reports. I just finished watching a talk show and one of the hosts all but said that whoever is not celebrating Bruce's transition (actually she said Caitlyn's transition), is not the kind of person she wants to be around. Huh? I thought her comments were particularly telling. It seems that many people are so preoccupied with championing the transgender issue, that they feel compelled to isolate and negate anyone that doesn't. And when media personalities take this position, it carries a lot of weight. Ironically, these are usually the people that say we need more diversity and inclusion.
Bruce has every right to be happy and to celebrate the emergence of his new personage. However, it doesn't mean that everyone has to crack open a bottle of champagne. Sure, some people have negative feelings about this issue, but there are many more that don't. There are also those, such as myself, who simply don't feel the need to celebrate. And if that causes anyone to feel uncomfortable, then we really have nothing to celebrate.
That's what the world is coming to. Anyone who dares disagree with what the msm has proclaimed to be the proper pc view, will be browbeaten into submission. As for Mr. Jenner, I wouldn't have a problem calling him Caitlin if that's what he wants to be called. But, I will never call him a woman, unless he finds a way to change his chromosomes to xx.
ReplyDeleteThe desire to be current, in the know, trendy, whatever you want to call it, leads to endorsing whatever the msm says is the "thing." As for Bruce, no, he's not a woman...he only feels that way. I guess I'd call him Caitlyn if I ever met him, just to be respectful.
