Today Will Determine Our Tomorrow

This is it, it's Election Day. It's been a long, long journey.  I've written a number of posts about politics and a few about the election, and while I had so much more to say, a part of me felt that it was probably best left unsaid.  Why?  Because although I still believe in the political process, it just seems to me like this political season has been like no other in recent history.  There's a bad candidate that's been protected and propped up to be anything but what she is...someone that should not be in the running for president of the United States.  And then there's Donald Trump, a candidate whose biggest fault is his mouth, which really shouldn't be a disqualifier, considering that the totality of his comments was just a bunch of insults.

Trump's At It Again...Now It's Accusations of Election Rigging

Immediately after the third presidential debate concluded, I said to my husband, "The lead story will be that Trump won't accept the election results if he loses".  Sure enough, as Fox News Channel's Shepard Smith wrapped up the network's coverage of the debate, he said just that.  But I'm not going to get bogged down with that nonsense.  The fact of the matter is that it doesn't matter whether Trump accepts the election results or not.  If he loses and decides not to accept the results, then okay, he won't accept them. Nothing changes.  Hillary will still be the President-elect.  There will still be a transference of power.  That's the beauty of the American system of government.

The media know this full-well.  But if you Google "Trump won't accept the election results" you'll get over 50,000,000 results, which suggests to me that lots of people actually think that if Trump declares "I don't accept the results" after the election, the American political system will grind to a screeching halt.  It won't.  It didn't when Al Gore refused to accept the results of his loss (he actually retracted his concession speech).  It didn't in 2004 when Sen. John Kerry pledged to send lawyers around the country

Latest Trump Video is a Blockbuster, But Wait, There's More

Donald Trump's vulgar comments of  eleven years ago have grabbed the attention of practically every media outlet on the face of the plant.  Released today by the Washington Post (CNN actually had the tape first since it was downloaded from their server by an unnamed producer), Trump's lewd comments have triggered a firestorm from members of  the media who apparently aren't aware that men sometimes say off-color, and yes, disgusting things to one another when women are not present.  The same can be said of women too, but that's a given.

Deborah's World Housekeeping

Here I go again....

Okay, I was looking at the stats on my blog yesterday and I saw what I see each and every day--a moderate, but very steady increase in viewers, more views from other countries (of course the US represents about 90+% of all views, very few comments, zero followers, and one subscriber.  That's right, zero followers and one subscriber.  In seeing this, I simply said to myself, that's okay, they'll eventually follow and subscribe.

In Scott Shooting, What Did Eyewitnesses Really See?

It goes without saying that everyone should wait until the facts about what actually happened in the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott are clear.  We can only hope that the eyewitnesses, particularly Taheshia Williams, who appears to be the only person claiming to have seen everything that transpired. is giving us the facts, and only the facts. Ms. Williams says that Scott got out of his truck and immediately raised his hands asking "What's the problem, what did I do? What did I do?"  And that Scott's book fell to the ground and he stepped over it while walking to the rear of his truck. She says that it was not a black officer that shot Scott, but a white, bald officer. She also claims that Scott died on the scene, not in transit to or at the hospital.  She also says that a black police officer administered CPR to Scott, not paramedics.

You Have to Give It to President Obama...He's Consistent

If I had to use just one word to describe President Obama, it would be consistent. You have to hand it to President Obama, he has consistently enjoyed incredible support from black voters without promising anything. To look at it on the bright side, he also hasn't broken any promises to this constituency.  As I detailed in an earlier post, practically every other voting bloc has been brought to the table and have been able to make significant gains for their particular agenda, the exception being black voters.

Music's Rockin' Women II

This girl from Akron, Ohio grew up to be one of the most influential women in both rock and punk music.  Her distinctive look, to this day, screams badass rocker chick. Which is why it came as no surprise when she said, "Everything I loved about music, it seems like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has destroyed" (and yes, she's in there). She is among an elite group of women fronting an all-male band. Actually, to describe her as a frontwoman doesn't adequately describe her significance. She put the band together, gave them their name (after a hit song by the Platters), and their success is due in no small part to the great songs that she has penned or co-written. She really doesn't have an exceptional voice, but it's precisely the right voice for her music--it can be edgy, yet it's lilting and cool. And then there's the look.  The super heavy eyeliner and long bangs are unmistakably the signature look of one of rock music's most enduring performers, the iconic Chrissie Hynde.
