Today Will Determine Our Tomorrow

This is it, it's Election Day. It's been a long, long journey.  I've written a number of posts about politics and a few about the election, and while I had so much more to say, a part of me felt that it was probably best left unsaid.  Why?  Because although I still believe in the political process, it just seems to me like this political season has been like no other in recent history.  There's a bad candidate that's been protected and propped up to be anything but what she is...someone that should not be in the running for president of the United States.  And then there's Donald Trump, a candidate whose biggest fault is his mouth, which really shouldn't be a disqualifier, considering that the totality of his comments was just a bunch of insults.

But in this totally corrupt system, spearheaded by a politically-motivated information network commonly known as the mainstream media, the real danger of electing a corrupt individual as president was overlooked.  So, we've been whipped into a frenzy about Trump's insults and penchant for late-night tweeting, while simultaneously being asked to ignore Hillary's devastatingly "bad judgment", particularly as demonstrated through the Clinton Foundation.  Interestingly, until recently, the highly respected Charity Navigator couldn't even rate the Clinton Foundation, due to a "lack of transparency".  They've obviously cleaned things up a bit since then.

It's completely amazing to me how she was able to get a pass on orchestrating the sale of a fifth of the US's uranium deposits to a Russian company, Uranium One (closely tied to Putin) while scoring millions for the Clinton Foundation. Bill also earned a cool half million dollars for giving a speech to a Kremlin-connected bank while the uranium deal was being made.

Her humanitarian effort in Haiti via her foundation left lots of Haitians wondering when will we receive the promised aid?  For the record, most are still waiting. In the meantime, her brother Tony Rodham scored a rare gold exploration permit, to extract the precious natural resource from the country and several large contributors to the foundation struck lucrative deals with the Haitian government.

Even the tax returns for the foundation have been refiled numerous times over a period of years (maybe this is why Charity Navigator couldn't rate them).

She (the foundation) has reaped hundreds of millions of dollars from countries that are nothing less than sponsors of terrorism and have horrific human rights records.

When you add her pledge to bring in more refugees (that cannot be vetted), her punitive tax proposals and highly questionable position on gun rights, there's no question for me about the choice for president.

We can survive insulting comments, but what about unfettered corruption?  I think not.
